This is an exceptional product that is durable and works very well. My husband and I have been sharing one for several years and we both love it. I decided to purchase my own and I get so much relief on my neck, shoulders and back. I warm it up in the microwave for 1 1/2 minutes and within a few minutes of application I feel the heat penetrating thru my aching joints and muscles and I feel great relief. I highly recommend this MediBeads Heating Pad to anyone with neck, back, joint, or soft tissue muscle pain.I loved this product, heard about it from therapists they used it on me and it helped so much I asked them what it was called after they told me I looked for one on line , glad I found it , works wonderful thank youI needed to find a replacement for my moist heat pad from The Happy Company. I wish they still made their products as it was really nice, and I purchased several for my family as well as for gifts. Unfortunately, they no longer make the large heating pads, so I searched for something that was comparable. I was unable to find something as large as the one that I currently had which covered the entire back, but this heat pad was still a good size. The other thing that I needed was something that did not have a lavender scent built into the heating pad which this did not.This heating pad is easy to use. You just pop it into the microwave for 2 to 2 1/2 minutes, and it stays hot/warm for 20 to 30 minutes. If you need to use it for longer periods of time, you just pop it back into the microwave for another minute. It has a good weight to it which also helps with the muscle aches and cramps.My previous heating pad had a removable, washable cover, but the heating pad itself was not washable. This heating pad does not have a removable cover, but it is washable by hand. You just need to make sure that the heating pad has not been used in the last 2 hours as it needs to be completely cool before you wash it. It also need to dry out for 24 hours after you wash it before you can use it again. That's important to keep in mind if you need to have the heating pad available on a regular basis.Even in our dry desert climate, the heating pad still gives off a nice moist heat. I like that, unlike my previous heating pad, the MediBeads do not give off a scent after the pad is microwaved.This moist heating pad is very sturdy and solid - doesn’t flip around like other heating pads. The moist heat is very helpful & recommended by chiropractors for back trouble. Delighted with the product and definitely would purchase another in the future.This thing is awesome. I think it will be xmass gifts for many in my family. After hearing scary stories from internet (as well as a personal friend) about over heating them and them throwing hot beads of melted crap, I was very careful to not overhead. The most I heated it up for around 1 minute 30 seconds, maybe as much as 1 minute 45. It was plenty hot with just that. I think they say 3 minutes or more, but 2 is the max I will ever heat up. Also, be careful if you are reheating you should really reduce the time. I have no clue how they get it to extract moisture from the air to give it that moist feel. This large size can be used for many things. You can fold over your hand to have it heat fingers and hand. You can lay on it on your neck or back. You can put it in small of back while sitting on any seat. I have also used my back support belt to hold it in place on my back as I walked around. Gonna use it for warming up tomorrow to play golf.As with this one and others (I also bought the neck one) you want to be careful just heating it up high then strapping it on bare flesh. It gets hot and will hurt you if you do not pay attention.My favorite use for it so far it in my car on what is now becoming more and more cold mornings. I heat this up, get in my car seat then let this fall down my back until it sits in the small of my back. Turns my very old Ford Expedition into a fancy new one with heated seats.Thanks to the inventor. Shipping was fast from the company that sold to me.I have spent about $500 on various sizes and brands of these types of microwavable heating pads. This one is by far the best. It's not the entire size of your back, which is what the picture looks like, but it would fit a decent area of your back or wherever else you need moist heat. The thing I like most about this one is that it's thick and fat, and the other big back heating pads barely have enough of the granules in them at all. They are thin and don't heat up well or last very long.I actually use this for myself, but right now I am using it for my 20-year-old cat, who gets IV fluids every evening and it's cold when it initially goes under her skin. So she lies on the mat and loves it. She starts purring as soon as she feels the heat because it makes the fluids warm under her skin in about 10 minutes, then she gets up and plays and walks around or goes into her cushy little cat house next to my spot on the couch.I am buying two more right now, because even though I have so many others, this one is made the best and the heat lasts pretty well for about 30 minutes. The heat is moist, not really wet or anything, but moist heat is great, and I put a blanket over it for my cat, but when I use it, I just lie right on it cause it's toasty hot after being in the microwave for 2 minutes and 30 seconds :) Thanks!I do have to say though, if you are looking for one strictly for your neck, the the Bed Buddy one with the handles at each end is by far the best for your neck! It's a long, snake-looking thing that heats up great and wraps around you so your neck feels amazing in just minutes.These beads have helped me through a long winter. They are very comforting for cold feet, stiff neck, etc. Love my Medibeads.There isn't anything I dislike about this item. I recieved one of the X Large MediBeads pad approximatly 9 years ago. I have used that one nearly daily, reheating it throughout the day for 9 months out of the year. I have just recently had to purchase a replacement. I bought two! They are wonderful on my back and legs.. very much worth the cost which is very good too.I'm a user and will continue using this item for many a year, yes indeed. It comforts me while relaxing and eases my pain tremendously. As a matter of fact it is so good you forget you have pain. I highly recommend this product...I use these every day and sleep with them as well for back and leg pain. I have purchased several times over the last eight years. I only issue is that they do sometime break open, however I think it is because the microwave is too hot.Much better than flax or rice that break down with use and can ignite in the microwave.
