My aunt has Alzheimer's and has had difficulty working her microwave. Her adp alarm went off when she burnt popcorn and the fire department showed up. This was so stressful on her. She does not need healthcare, just assistance with some simple tasks. We purchased this microwave for her and programed it from 30second, 1 min, 2 min, 3 min, 4 min. We placed tape over the buttons we did not want her to see or touch and labeled the buttons so the one minute says heat water/coffee, the two minute says reheat food, three minute says popcorn. the four minute says frozen food. She is not afraid to use her microwave and feels she still has some independence.100% Power lever ONLY The next model up has variable power, not this one!No add a minute while cooking.Small volume, one dish at a time only. Good for a small spot.Very nice case, all brushed stainless steel. So far, I have not been able to reprogram the memory buttons, I do exactly what the instructions say and it doesn't work, I reprogrammed my other larger higher power similar Sharp no problem. We purchased for a family member with memory issues. They were having trouble using a traditional microwave, either under or over cooking food. With this one, we programmed settings for what they warm up regularly and labeled the buttons with a Sharpie - sandwich, coffee, dinner, breakfast, etc. Now they can easily and accurately warm things up on their own. It’s a nice compact size and easy to clean, too.We have owned this microwave for several months now, and it is excellent. Just one caution. If you like to play with partial power settings - to have it run on 50% power for a certain dish or recipe, for example - then this is not the model you want. Or if you want to cook in separate stages at different power settings. The R-21LVF does not offer cooking with partial power. You should look for model R-21LTF. Fortunately we are happy with cooking at full power all the time. There is one fault with the product: we are supposed to have a choice of 2 ringtones that mark the end of cooking, but there is no 2nd choice, so we are stuck with the default ringtone. It would be nice to have a choice, but the default ringtone is o.k. The bottom line is that this is an excellent product and we would buy it again.I've had this microwave oven about six weeks now and it's worked flawlessly so far. It replaced a Litton microwave oven that was still going strong after 36 years. I replaced the Litton, because I needed an oven with a smaller footprint and one that weighed considerably less. The Sharp microwave works great. The only drawback that I see is that you are supposed to call for a service tech anytime you need the interior light bulb replaced. Oh yea, they don't send service techs to private residences. And, don't expect to get much help from Sharp if you have a warranty claim and are not a commercial user. There is no rotating glass platter; however, it's not an issue with me - the oven seems to cook pretty evenly without the need to rotate what's getting cooked. It has a handle, which I like better than a button. It is spacious inside, with no turntable. Its interior is mostly stainless steel, with a smooth plastic bottom that's easy to clean. Even though the wattage is less than my old Frigidaire, it heats much more quickly. The presets are easy to use and so is the insert-your-own time. The outside is nice stainless. Considering the space inside, it's not too big on the outside. It's quiet, and even quieter since we turned off the beeper. The window and internal light make it easy to see what's happening inside. I got tired of microwaves crapping out after five years so I hope this commercial model lasts longer. I absolutely love it.Great productI guess the complicated operation comes with "commercial"...but I needed a zapper at counter level because I'm stuck in my wheelchair...works fine but I'm not sure I'll always be able to figure it out...
