The instructions repeatedly say to be careful to not electrocute yourself, but when I bought it a few years ago, it was unclear how I was supposed to do that. I let the failed one discharge for a week, and I'm still here. Not a hard repair if you can get the microwave off the wall, which was a big effort. but better than buying another. It took a few hours to disassemble and then to put back together. It is quieter then it was brand new out of the box. Works great at a fraction of the cost of a new one. If your microwave works perfectly except won't heat food and seems a bit on the noisy side. Then this is the part you need.Instead of ditching a microwave we went to YouTube University and bought this part, replaced it and saved the microwave. It was not easy to install because of the microwave, not the part. It is in a tight place. But with patience, you can do it.Hot productReplacing the magnetron fixed my microwave. Part was supposed to come with a HV diode that was missing. Fortunately my exiting diode tested good so I didn’t need to replace it…..yet. Others have had the same issue with the diode missing from the delivered unit.Virtually identical to the OEM installed unit. Fits perfectly...works the same but pricing substantially better. The plastic shroud around my OEM unit was a bit of a pain to deal with and served the same troublesome role when re-installing the replacement unit. I took numerous before-hand pictures with my phone to duplicate the exact reinstall position...after 10 minutes of fidgeting the replacement unit snap into place perfectly. My original diode tested-out OK but since this purchase came with a brand new diode that also looked identical, I replaced the diode as well...a very easy chore since you have the sides of the unit off already. Besides taking pictures I suggest you label each side you remove with some tape and use a contrasting permanent marker to note all the holes you removed screws from. I stored each side's screws in separate cups matching the side label....there are a lot of holes that remain unfilled so you need to know exactly which holes to fill and which holes to leave empty plus the screws are different on every side and I wanted to make sure I put the correct screws back in the correct holes....this labeling and storing process by specific side helped me achieve this.Over the range microwave wouldn't heat Researched issue and magnetron most likely culprit. GE charges over $200 for the same Samsung magnetron and $200 or more to repair after ,three week or more wait. Part without diode arrived in about 3 days . By fixing myself, able to avoid buying and having to install bigger heavier or smaller capacity MV into space over the range. Also avoided back splash damage and cabinet asymmetry issues besides new having to deal with mounting installation so all in all saved $600 to $900.You must feel comfortable working around capacitors that contain stored electricity and need to be discharged. Also over the range removal and reinstall is a real effort with only one person. Amazon took care of seller not including diode as the description indicated would be included with magnetronMy specifics regarding magnetron replacement, My model is a GE JVM1870sf02 Spacemaker 1800 with a manufacturing date of 2004. Symptoms - When in operation you could hear faint high energy crackle from within the microwave followed by eventual tripping of the house 15 amp circuit breaker. Checked the two 20 Amp fuses inside the microware and found to be ok. Checked door switches and Thermal Cut Offs (TCO). All checked ok.I order a new magnetron that included the HV diode and this fixed my problems. Microware now works fine. My original GE HV diode P/N is HV03-12 F49, the diode included in the replacement kit is a 2CL4512 H56. Also the diode in the kit did not have Heat Shrink (HS) wrap as the original. You need to wrap the HV side of the diode with HS. I did not bother to look up the specifications to check compatibility, seemed to work fine. Wear protective gloves, I cut my hands on the very sharp edges of the microware chassis.
